Just a couple of days after an elderly driver got into a deadly crash with a senior citizen, another elderly motorist got into an accident at a carpark, and no less disastrous.
The New Paper reports that he lost control of his car and rammed into five vehicles on Wednesday in Bedok.
During the vehicular pandemonium, 69-year-old Chng Chor Choo smashed into two stationary cars and three motorcycles while driving out of the carpark. Speaking to paper, he believed that he stepped on the accelerator by accident.
45-year-old real estate agent Yeo is the owner of one of the damaged cars, and he could only stare in disbelief when he went downstairs to find his devastated car bumper. He noted that this was not the first time Chng has damaged other vehicles at the carpark — the elderly man once scraped his friend’s car, which was captured by his dashcam.
Other residents have also questioned if Chng should be allowed to continue driving. The frail Chng uses a walking aid and has been observed to be walking unsteadily by multiple neighbours.
Police have since referred the case to the General Insurance Association.
