Four new general hospitals in Singapore’s near future

The Sengkang General and Community Hospital will be ready by 2018, says Minister for Health Mr. Gan Kim Yong, who also announced the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Healthcare 2020 Master Plan to expand the national healthcare capacity.

Sengkang Hospital will be the largest to date, adding 1,400 hospital beds to the existing figure in Singapore.

Three other new general hospitals are also in the government’s plans. These will be ready between 2020 and 2030.

Said Mr. Gan on Oct. 27, Sengkang Hospital will house the “Community Heart” on the ground floor, filled with cafes, retail outlets, seating areas and community engagement activities, to encourage social interaction amongst residents.
