In an island-wide four-day anti-loansharking maneuver that ended Friday (May 23), a total of 127 men and women suspected of illegal activities such as harassment, providing false information and loansharking were hauled in for questioning.
According to a report by Channel NewsAsia, out of the 127 suspects, 11 are thought to be runners for loan sharks, another three are believed to have provided their loan sharks with false contact information resulting in unsuspecting folk being harassed.
The remaining 113 suspects are accused of giving their ATM card and personal identification numbers to the loan sharks.
Police said suspects were aged between 18- and 74-years-old, and comprise of 89 men and 38 women.
Investigations are still underway.
