Popular dog Caesar’s sudden death suspected to be foul play

Caesar, the popular Alaskan Malamute, died suddenly on Thursday, Oct. 24.

His owner Genevieve Wijaya suspects he was poisoned and wrote in a blog post how Caesar showed signs of weird behaviour on the morning of Oct. 23, including defaecating while lying down, breathing heavily and vomiting.

Wijaya then rushed him to the Animal Recovery Centre (ARC), where he was given treatment and diagnosed to be stable. Caesar continued to display signs of recovery for the next 12 hours or so, but the next day, the staff at the animal hospital found him with no heartbeat. They also revealed they’d detected traces of poison in his blood.

Resuscitation procedures were performed, but Caesar was later pronounced dead.
