A former teacher abused his position of power and engaged in a sexual relationship with a student 16 years younger than him.
She was just 13 years of age when he took her virginity in 2003.
Nine years since their twisted relationship ended, the 42-year-old man has since been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison, TODAY reports. He was convicted for two counts of carnal connection with a girl below 16, two counts of insulting the modesty of a woman and two counts of committing and obscene act with a young person.
They first met when he was her English and History teacher — the Ministry of Education have assured that he was sacked as soon as the case was reported.
From 2003 till 2007, the man had multiple sexual encounters with the girl in cars, hotel rooms and even the girl’s home, as he had moved into the house as a tenant.
He had informed the teenager that he was undergoing divorce proceedings and he had been kicked out of their house. He started renting a room in her house, where they continued their perverse relationship.
The teenager tried to end their relationship twice in 2006 and 2007, and he finally relented in 2008. He continued to live in the house with the girl and her mother, and even took videos of them while they were showering.
It was only in 2013 when the girl discovered clips of their trysts and his voyeur videos among his belongings. Police were called in to arrest him on Aug 23, 2013.
He could have been jailed up to five years and fined up to $10,000 for each count of carnal connection.
