Former SCDF director may get jailed for life for taking two iPads

A former director at the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was charged today with two counts of criminal breach of trust.

If convicted, 62-year-old Jeganathan Ramasamy faces a maximum of life imprisonment, under Section 409 of the Penal Code.

His crime: giving one government property iPad to his daughter and selling another to a colleague for $200.

Jeganathan was said to have obtained the two iPads valued at about $940 each from NCS Pte Ltd, who he had had clear access to as director of SCDF’s technology department.
