A man is being lauded on Facebook for doing the right thing. Concerned about the safety of pedestrians at Jurong East MRT station the man took it upon himself to clear fragments of broken glass off the floor after a woman accidentally dropped her child’s bottle and chose to walk away from her mess.

Shu Ting Bay witnessed the kind act yesterday afternoon and was moved enough to share about it on her Facebook page. According to her, a mother had dropped her kid’s glass bottle and it shattered on the ground. Instead of clearing it, the mother was said to have walked away, leaving glass shards on a busy area with high human traffic.

Only a “thoughtful stranger” who was standing nearby acted. According to Shu Ting, the man picked up all the broken glass fragments on the floor, placed it in a bag and threw it away.

“He told me he was simply afraid that other people might step on it and hurt themselves,” wrote Shu Ting, who said that the man identified himself as Hakim. She can’t recall if he was from Bangladesh or India.

“The focus of this post is just purely to share how kind people can be regardless of where they come from,” she wrote.
