Food deliveryman killed in Geylang after his e-bike gets struck down by semi-trailer

A food deliverer died in an accident yesterday evening when his electric bicycle was struck down by a semi-trailer at the junction of Lorong 13 Geylang and Sims Avenue.

The 59-year-old — believed to be an employee of a zi char food stall at a coffee shop located on Lorong 17 — had been carrying out a delivery on his e-bike when he was involved in the accident, The Straits Times reports.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force had been alerted around 7pm, deploying an ambulance to the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details provided by eyewitnesses revealed a gruesome scene — according to durian seller on Sims Avenue, the victim’s head was crushed from the accident.

A 48-year-old driver was arrested for causing death by rash act, and police investigations are ongoing.
