Look, we get the whole banning of e-cigarettes on the grounds of health risks (though debatable) and reducing nicotine exposure — but there’s no need to treat people like dumbasses.

Apparently, the issue of vaping in Singapore is considered so urgent and severe that it got a spot on Crimewatch, the docu-drama depicting cases faced by the police. Less Cops and more cringe-y acting, the recent segment showcased Operation Trident, in which the police busted local sellers of the prohibited products. As you can imagine, it’s a dramatic doozy:

Despite Singapore’s official banning of e-cigarettes and other emerging tobacco products (like chewing tobacco, nicotine patches, etc), there’s still a sizeable community of vapers here who obtain their devices from underground vendors and overseas. The Crimewatch segment is just the latest in the authorities’ efforts to scare folks away from vaping — mainstream media haven’t published anything that recognises the positive side of the fence when it comes to the issue of e-cigs.
