Flower garland tip for KTV showgirl at St James club purportedly goes for $1m

In case you’re not in the know (bless your pure, innocent heart), here’s how it works in shady but glitzy Thai KTV halls around town: Models/showgirls perform on stage for the crowd, and in turn, the crowd is encouraged to pledge money to the model of choice.

Tributes range in various amounts — you can pledge at least $50, and the model will reward you with a visit to your table for some private one-on-one entertainment while plying you to get more drinks.

Hostesses can make some serious money off the flower garlands they receive as tips, which will then be traded for cash with the KTV house. It’s a system that allows for untraceable cash flow.

Facebook user Richel Xie joked about going for gender reassignment surgery after seeing a flower tip going for as much as $1 million. Not in Rupiah, mind you. Singapore dollars.

Most likely it’s a typo, and the flower tip is probably only $100,000. Still, $100,000 is pretty fucking insane to pay for some extra personal pub service by a pretty lady. But hey, shit does get crazy at KTV bars here.
