A bus burst into flames yesterday on Mandai Avenue, filling the sky with massive clouds of black smoke.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told Coconuts today they were alerted to the burning vehicle near Mandai Crematorium at 2pm. There were no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

No other vehicles appeared to be involved in videos of the bus inferno, suggesting it had caught fire.

Firefighters extinguished the flames using two water jets and two compressed air foam backpacks.

In videos of the incident, the dark green bus is parked on the roadside and almost fully consumed by wreaths of flame as a huge cloud of black smoke pours forth, and bystanders look on from a distance.

Flames could be seen pouring through the private bus’ front windshield.
