The Singapore city skyline will literally be set on fire come Aug 9, when the National Day Parade spectacle this year promises to feature the biggest fireworks display in its history.
Like everything commemorating SG50, things will be bigger, bolder and a lot more excessive — this year’s celebrations will see twice the amount of fireworks used for the National Day Parade 2014. Not only will it shoot out from seven high-rise buildings around Marina Bay (including the Maybank Tower, Pan Pacific Singapore, Swissotel, Republic Plaza) but there’ll be floating barges made specifically to launch fireworks. The 300-metre-long fireworks barge will stay afloat in the bay and will have a “Rainbow Arc firing”, Channel NewsAsia reports. Whatever that is, it sounds both dangerous and awesome.

Other fantastic highlights that should blind flying animals nearby include a “Golden Jubilee Shell” which will burst twice in stunning red, white and gold, as well as an “SG50” lettered fireworks display after the singing of National Anthem.
No holds barred folks, no holds barred.
