Firefighters saved the day again, this time rescuing an infant and two cats from a burning kitchen.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force today boasted of its heroic act of extinguishing a blaze at Block 310 Jurong East Street 32 at 7:50am this morning. The fire was contained in the kitchen area.

Two people, an infant, and two cats were evacuated from the flat on the fifth story. Fifteen others from neighboring units were also evacuated from the block.

The infant was sent to the National University Hospital, SCDF said.

Two cats were found conscious in the unit. Photos showed firefighters providing a black kitty oxygen.

SCDF said a good samaritan attempted to extinguish the flames using a fire extinguisher before they arrived and gave him kudos for his “quick-thinking and prompt action.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
