The weather’s been a proper scorcher today, but who knew it’d be hot enough to start a wildfire in Punggol?
Thick columns of smoke were captured on camera and uploaded on the Punggol 21 community page, showing a portion of an open field beside Block 256, Sumang Walk burning up.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) , the vegetation fire measuring 30m by 30m broke out around 1.15pm. Two fire engines, a red rhino and two fire bikes were dispatched to the scene, where they stamped out the flames with two water jets. No injuries were reported.
The incident adds yet another notch to the number of vegetation fires — 121 of such cases took place as of last month, with 94 alone fought in March.
