Just a day after fire broke out at AMK Hub (in a Samsung store no less), Nex faced a similar case of its own last night.
Smoke started to fill up the mall in Serangoon around 9.45pm, and an announcement was made, requesting patrons to evacuate the building.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident soon after, and it deployed two fire engines, two light fire attack vehicles, two fire bikes and a supporting vehicle. What the SCDF found was a blaze involving construction materials that started at a staircase landing, which was promptly extinguished with a fire extinguisher and a hose reel.
Footage sent to Channel NewsAsia showed that the mall’s patrons were acting pretty chill amidst the smoky interiors. It’s great that folks weren’t panicking and all, but damn dudes, there’s a fire — evacuate the building when you’re told to.
