Probably shocking the hundreds of motorists driving in the peak hours this morning, a manhole along the junction of Hill Street and High Street blew up with fire raging out of the opening.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the scene around 7.30am this morning, where firefighters extinguished the blaze with a foam jet. According to TODAY, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Since the incident, a section on the right-most lane of Hill Street has been cordoned off to traffic. SCDF are still investigating the cause of the explosion, suspecting a gas leak. SCDF vehicles remain at the location as a precautionary measure.
