A Singapore man was being kicked to the virtual curb today for using his foot to stop a child from crashing his bike.

Many weighed in on whether the unidentified man – possibly the boy’s father – kicked the boy’s bicycle to stop him from losing control as he sped down a slope at a park. Some thought it was hilarious; others questioned his actions.

“He could have just grabbed and lifted the kid if the kid was losing control,” Alexw5777 wrote.

Andylau6494 agreed: “The boy could [have gotten a] concussion or brain injury.”

Footage of the incident opens with the barefoot boy descending a steep slope on his brakeless bicycle. As he struggles to control the bike, a man runs toward him and kicks the front wheel to knock it down. The man then stands and looks down on the wailing boy. The man does appear to be holding something, possibly a camera.

People were confused as to why the child was allowed to ride the bicycle without safety gear.

Someone defended the swift-footed man, saying the child could have gotten more hurt if he did not take action.

“The kid was [losing] control of the bike anyway. Eventually would fall or hit someone. He is gonna get hurt somehow,” a Mrafiazam wrote. “[T]hat guy did him a favour. [It’s] not pretty or ideal but it does the job.”.
