Family of Kinabalu quake victim to pass on all wake donations to mountain guides

As a noble gesture of gratitude and appreciation, the family of one of the Tanjong Katong Primary School students who died will be passing on all donations they’ve received to the mountain guides who were involved in rescue operations following the tragic Mount Kinabalu earthquake on Jun 5.

The Straits Times reports that the family of 12-year-old Rachel Ho — one of the seven students who died during a school climbing trip at the mountain in Sabah — had received a rather generous contribution from friends and family who attended the wake. The money however will be channeled to the Malaysian mountain guides who helped school staff and students after the 6.0-magnitude earthquake.

The family are also contacting the families of Singaporean mountain guide Muhammad Daanish Amran and Tanjong Katong Primary School teacher Mohammed Ghazi Mohamed who accompanied the students in the expedition. They too perished in the disaster, along with another teacher Loo Jian Liang Terrence Sebastian.
