On Sunday, a bomb scare hit a Scoot flight from Cebu to Singapore, resulting in the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) deploying two F-15SG fighter jets to escort the plane to safety.

In a Facebook post at 6:15pm, Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said the bomb threat turned out to be a “false alarm,” but vowed that the SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) “takes every threat as real and seriously, until proven otherwise.”

“The RSAF will stay ever vigilant,” he added.

The police confirmed in a statement that they received a report involving a “security threat” on board flight TR385, which was scheduled to arrive at Changi Airport on June 2. According to a Scoot spokesperson, all 144 passengers and crew on the aircraft subsequently disembarked safely and went through security checks upon the plane’s arrival around 4:50pm, The Straits Times said.

Channel NewsAsia reported that a 13-year-old male passenger was allegedly behind the bomb hoax. He is currently assisting with police investigations.
