Hotels in Asian destinations — largely favoured by Singaporean travellers — are among the lowest priced, according to a recent Hotels.com survey.
According to the survey, now in its 10th year running, Asian countries make up 15 of the top 20 destinations favoured by Singaporeans, with Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taiwan taking the top three places respectively.
Survey results show that hotel prices in Asia have fallen by 2% to 106 points in 2013 from the previous year, compared to a 3% rise in the global average.
Asian countries made up 19 of the 20 lowest positions in the price rankings, with the biggest drops recorded in Genting Highlands, falling 23% to $86, Busan, down 19% to $137 and Legian, decreasing by 18% to $115.
Looking for five-star accommodation? Cities like Guanzhou offer the best bang for your buck at $220 a night and Bangkok at $227.
Even staycation prices have dropped — down by about 2% to $230.
The Hotels.com HPI accounts for the real prices that hotel guests actually paid for, rather than the advertised rates, with a sample size that covers more than 150,000 properties worldwide — based on bookings made on its website.
