Travellers, you’ll soon have more routes and destinations to choose from, as Changi Airport is increasing the amount of existing flights to countries around the region and adding new flights to cities in Europe in the coming months. One positive perk about this change? More affordable fares, of course.
Look out for a new route to Stockholm in Sweden, via Moscow, on Singapore Airlines in May, as well as the launch of Scoot’s flight to Athens in Greece this June. According to The Straits Times, 12 destinations in Asia-Pacific — including Bangkok, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phuket and Yangon — as well as Aussie cities like Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney will see a rise in flights too. That adds up to a total of about 12,000 weekly one-way seats from Singapore to be gradually added to existing ones. Plus, Ethiopian Airlines, which ceased its route from Addis Ababa to Singapore in September 2014 due to low demand, will re-launch its route in June with five flights per week.
Changi Airport saw a record of 58.7 million passengers come through its doors last year, and the number is expected to increase, thanks to the growing demand for air travel in the region.
