Expect even more hazy days ahead as PSI range hits unhealthy levels island-wide

Like a forbidding omen as Singaporeans prep up for a historic Polling Day tomorrow, a thicker smog of haze is currently blanketing the nation as the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) range hits unhealthy levels.

As of writing, the 24-hour PSI stands in between the high end of moderate air quality to the low end of the unhealthy range (112 – 124), with the full brunt of the haze hitting the northern, eastern and southern ends of the island. The three-hour PSI is even more unfavourable, standing at 160.

According to the latest National Environmental Agency (NEA) update, a total of 140 hotspots were detected in Sumatra, with dense smoke haze observed south of the Indonesian island.

Expect more hazy conditions in the days ahead if the winds continue to stand against our favour.
