Expect better air quality for today: NEA

In some much needed good news amidst the local Zika outbreak, the National Environment Agency (NEA) has forecasted that hazy conditions will be a lot better today.

Visually, it’s pretty apparent that the skies aren’t choked up by thick smogs right now. Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) levels remain at reasonable ranges as prevailing winds from the south and southeast blow away the haze.

Yesterday, the NEA only detected two hotspots in Sumatra, with moderate to dense haze over Riau having spread eastwards to the Straits of Malacca. That’s why the northern section of Singapore looks to be most affected by the haze.

As we’ve learnt from years of experience however, the respite is only temporary and we’ll see the worst of our hazy days soon enough.
