Ex-employees complain about cat deaths, poor training at Cuddles cafe

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) is investigating allegations made against *SCAPE cat cafe Cuddles, TODAY reports.

Said the local daily, former employees of the cafe have complained about the deaths of as many as eight cats under the care of owner Mr. Jonathan Tan, as well as the lack of training provided to staff.

Mr. Tan has reportedly confirmed the cat deaths, though the exact number out of the 30 he’d bought for the business is unknown. He said they either died after sterilisation or suffering from fatal coronavirus feline infectious peritonitis.

Mr. Tan also refuted complaints of poor training, saying that his staff are taught how to handle cats, including checking their comfort level, disinfecting their food and water sources, and showering. One former employee however, said that Mr. Tan’s method of “training” was to show staff YouTube videos.

Ex-employees have also voiced their concern about the health of current cats, because they’d been in contact with the ones that died before Cuddles opened for business last September.

Mr. Tan is reportedly waiting to hear from AVA about renewing his licence for cat display, which expires today.
