Several days since a particularly bad fall in a bus during a sudden brake, a 66-year-old woman has been declared brain dead yesterday following a surgery.
Coffee shop assistant Tan Ah Tit had been making her way home on an SBS service 109 last Saturday when the driver made a hard brake to avoid collision with a car along Sengkang East Road, Lianhe Wanbao reports.
The elderly woman lost her balance and hit her head before falling unconscious. She was later conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, afflicted brain haemorrhage as well as broken legs. Surgery was carried out, but unfortunately she came out of the operating theatre brain dead.
The police are currently conducting investigations into the incident, while the SBS bus driver has since been suspended pending the outcome of the probe.
