A Facebook post detailing a robbery that reportedly occurred recently in Yishun has been making the rounds online. According to a user by the name of Jessica Vincent, the incident occurred on Apr 30 around 7:20pm at the Yishun MRT underground walkway towards Northpoint City.

Channel NewsAsia said that a 64-year-old female has been arrested for purportedly stealing money from the blind tissue seller.

The post explained that a woman had snatched the visually impaired individual’s bag containing money that she collected throughout the day and fled the scene. The blind lady yelled for help and someone raced after the thief, but the suspect managed to escape. An image of the alleged thief was also shared on Facebook.

The netizen later updated her post to clarify that she was not present at the scene when the snatch and run occurred, but the area was crowded, and she and her family heard the cry for help. According to another woman who was chasing after the thief (and who snapped the pic), the perpetrator made off after arguing her innocence.

The police confirmed they received a report on the incident last Thursday. TODAY said that officers from the Woodlands Police Division subsequently found and arrested the suspect on May 8 at Woodlands Street 12. Investigations are ongoing. If found guilty, the thief could be fined, jailed for a maximum of three years, or both.
