This is a heartwarming tale of people coming together to help someone in need. Read on if you want your faith in humanity (and racial harmony) restored.
On Friday evening (July 22), an elderly man fell off his bicycle near Pasir Ris Elias Community Club, and when passers-by saw him bleeding, they rushed to his side.
In a Facebook post that has since gone viral, Khairul Farhan shared about his experience, and how several strangers graciously rushed to the aid of the old man. There was a Chinese woman who shielded the injured man with her umbrella and contacted his loved ones, an Indian man who helped move the bicycle and offered wet tissues to wipe the blood off the man’s face, a Malay man who ran to the nearest clinic for assistance, and a Bangladeshi man who provided more shelter with his umbrella. All that was on top of Khairul’s and his wife’s efforts to apply pressure on the wound, stop the bleeding and clean the blood off his face and hands.
The elderly man was then taken to Changi General Hospital.
Turns out, Khairul’s a civilian officer with the Singapore Police Force and was commended by the Singapore Civil Defence Force for helping someone in distress.
Coincidentally, his post on Saturday came just two days after Singapore celebrated Racial Harmony Day.
