Elderly Malay couple terrorised by new neighbour who conducted campaign of harassment

An elderly Malay couple residing at 15 Marine Terrace have been terrorised by extraordinary assholes — a middle-aged Chinese couple that moved in next to them just six months ago and exhibited absolutely everything that you’d never want to see in a neighbour: racism, passive-aggressiveness, pettiness and, to some extent, homicidal intent.

The story of the egregious neighbours have been shared on Facebook by Lisa Hussin, who recounted the months-long campaign of harassment conducted upon her parents.

Apparently it started when the female neighbour stopped Lisa’s mother at the lift lobby and demanded her to stop cooking Malay food because — guess what — it was apparently very smelly. Sure, why not simply unlearn decades of honing their own cultural cuisine and start cooking cheese soufflés and steak tartares?

Oblivious to their own inane logic, the Chinese couple then started to lodge complaints against their Malay neighbours to the police, National Environmental Agency (NEA), the town council and the Residents’ Committee, which led all the agencies to visit the elderly lady’s house to conduct investigations.

According to Lisa, her mother has totally stopped cooking at home in fear of further confrontation.

But the hellish behaviour did not end there. The Chinese couple started to continue harassing their elderly neighbours by placing a radio in the common corridor, blasting Chinese radio all day and night long with the speakers positioned towards their house. It’s exactly as annoying as one would imagine;  check out Lisa’s videoclip here:

My mum’s neighbour radio placed on corridor towards my mum’s window, blasting chinese radio station. It could go on till pass midnight, daily.

But still that was not enough. The neighbours from hell also started burning incense for no reason at the corridor, and the smoke would enter the elderly couple’s house. They even placed a lighted candle in a holder next to a stack of cardboards near Lisa’s mother’s house.

So on top of the mental abuse they mounted, the middle-aged couple also intended to “accidentally” create a fire that would burn their neighbours house down. Classy as fuck.

There is, however, a happy ending to it all. Since lodging a police report (and her post going viral and getting published on The Online Citizen), Lisa updated on Facebook that the asshole neighbours have since kept the radio, candle holder and the incense burners. They probably knew not to incur the wrath of internet vigilantes.
