On Monday, Oct. 6, a Mr. Kovit Ang on Facebook uploaded this ew-worthy photo of cockroaches scurrying near some food at 1983 – A Taste of Nanyang foodcourt located in the South Promenade of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands (MBS).
MBS is easily the most luxurious shopping arcade in Singapore, housing one of the world’s largest collections of designer boutiques and celebrity chef restaurants.
In a statement via Channel NewsAsia, MBS announced that the Koufu-run outlet is now closed temporarily for thorough cleaning and will reopen upon further notice.
“Marina Bay Sands is aware of a pest incident that occurred at one of our tenanted F&B outlets… We immediately took action and worked with the tenant to conduct checks and investigate the incident,” the statement read.
MBS also assures customers that they will continue to ensure that their strict hygiene rules are applied consistently across the property and that the tenant will increase the frequency of its pest control checks to prevent the incident from happening again.
