The difficult-to-access regions of the Bukit Timah corridor will very soon witness a new burst of hustle and bustle when the Downtown Line 2 opens in December this year.
All 12 stations of Stage 2 in the MRT line will open ahead of schedule, according to Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew — he credited the speed of progress to the support of residents for longer construction hours in their neighbourhood, The Straits Times reports.

Currently, those commuting from Bukit Panjang to the financial district would take an hour to travel — but with the Downtown Line, the long dreary journey should drop by 20 minutes.
If you love eateries along Sixth Avenue and Beauty World Centre (Al-Azhar Eating House FTW), but not such a fan of its lack of public transport options, the new stretch of the Downtown Line should be able to solve all those problems and more.
