In the late afternoon yesterday, a fiery scene of low-key chaos erupted outside the Red Dot Design Museum along Marina Boulevard when a blazing electric scooter set off mini explosions, discharging fiery debris into the air.
A video sent in by a witness to The Straits Times showed the e-scooter engulfed in flames in the middle of the promenade. Bystanders had to inch further away from the scene as the crackling fire shot out flaming bits nearly 10m away, according to ST. A worker from a nearby cafe attempted to put out the fire with an extinguisher.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted to the incident at 5:16pm yesterday, and firefighters promptly extinguished the flaming wreck. No injuries were reported.
It would be the second day in a row that the SCDF had to put out fires involving e-scooters. Early Tuesday morning, firefighters responded to a case in a flat at 326C Sumang Walk, where an e-scooter also burst into flames after it was left charging in the kitchen.
