A driver and a cyclist involved in an altercation that was caught on video last week have been arrested.
The two women, aged 49 and 31, were arrested for allegedly committing a rash act after a video circulating online showed a cyclist jumping onto the bonnet of a car that sped off along 112 East Coast Road last Friday afternoon.
“What an exciting start to the long weekend! Crazy cyclist hogged the entire road! Watch on to see how this Hollywood-worthy drama unfolds,” the video caption read.
The clip showed the cyclist standing in front of the car to prevent it from moving while also hogging the entire lane. The video then jump cuts to cars honking with the cyclist still blocking the car but now on her phone.
The matter escalated when the cyclist jumped on the car’s bonnet while the car sped off forward. Shouts and screams can be heard.
The reason for the altercation has not been disclosed by the authorities.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries and police investigations are ongoing.
According to reports by Chinese-language newspaper Lianhe Zaobao, witnesses said the argument lasted at least five minutes and that the cyclist later refused to get down from the car and continued screaming.
