Dramatic blaze at Tanjong Pagar construction site easily put out by firefighters within minutes

The evening city skyline was rudely marred by thick plumes of black smoke as a massive 10m by 10m blaze broke out in a construction site along Anson Road.

Raging hard at the ground floor of the Tanjong Pagar Centre construction site, the flames were first spotted about 6pm today. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deployed multiple fire engines to the scene, arriving within five minutes as crowds started to form in the area watching the whole drama unfold. 

 

A fire occurred at a construction site along Anson Road around 6pm today. Fire involved construction materials and was extinguished by SCDF using 2 water jets. There were no reported injuries.

Though tongues of flames towered and thick smoke could be seen from as far as Dhoby Ghaut, the blaze was quickly extinguished by 6.15pm, using just two water jets. So much for the spectacle. 

Developer GuocoLand Group reported no casualties during the incident, with all their workers accounted for. The cause of the fire is currently under investigations.
