A man and woman in their 70s were discovered lying motionless in their flat on Wednesday afternoon (June 21). Police officers received a call for help around 3:40pm that day, and when they arrived at the apartment in Block 717 along Bedok Reservoir Road, paramedics pronounced the 79-year-old man and 78-year-old woman dead at the scene.
It is believed that the husband and wife victims were Singaporeans Chia Ngim Fong and Chin Sek Fah, and both were found in two different locations in the five-room executive flat. One of them sported injury marks on the neck. Even though family members were reportedly seen at the flat when the police arrived, they were said to be out at the time of the deaths.
Channel NewsAsia reported that police officers were spotted sifting through a rubbish chute at the foot of the block, and three knives were taken and placed in a plastic bag. According to TODAY, the bodies were carried away by investigators around 11:15pm to the cries of family members.
Neighbors in the vicinity said that the couple was known to be “friendly” and “loving”.
The case has been classified as murder, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the case can call the police hotline at 1800-255-0000 or submit it online — all information will be kept confidential.
