Dog Lovers Wanted: SPCA to put up abused Japanese Spitz in viral video for adoption

The adorable white Japanese Spitz absolutely deserves a loving home, especially after being the subject of abuse in a recent viral video that has produced waves of anger and disgust online.

The highly distressing footage depicted the six-month old dog getting strung up by its neck with a leash and swung around in the air by its angry owner. Following a probe by SPCA Singapore and the police, the helpless canine was removed from the offending house. Fortunately, it did not appear to suffer any noticeable physical injuries.

The Straits Times reports that the man has since surrendered its ownership, and that the dog will be put up for adoption as soon as investigations have been completed.

Speaking to the paper, SPCA deputy executive director Selina Sebastian revealed the organization is currently pressing for a “strong deterrent action” against the dog’s former owner. As it rightly should be for all animal abusers.

The Japanese Spitz is right now safe and snug under SPCA’s care — an adoption notice will be posted on their website soon.
