The Singapore Sports Hub announced on Wednesday its first-ever water-based carnival,the OCBC WaterFest 2015. The three-day event will be held from July 3 to 5 around the Sports Hub area and aims to bring the nation together through water sports.
Said OCBC WaterFest 2015 Event Director Calvin Palyama in an interview with Channel NewsAsia: “The event aims to showcase the Sports Hub’s unique land and water assets. That’s what we want to do, to bring everybody here to have a great weekend festival, a full three days’ worth of free activities, multiple touchpoints, getting people into the water, educating people on what the various water sports as well as just coming around and having fun.”
Members of the public can try their hand at water-themed activities like sailing, kayaking and paddle boating, while those with a competitive itch that needs to be scratched can participate in a whole host of competitions from canoeing to beach volleyball. Athletically-challenged or aquaphobic individuals need not worry about being left out as there will be a K-Pop dance party and local musical performances.
Admission to the OCBC WaterFest 2015 is free and event updates and information will be available on the Singapore SportsHub website.
