Dislodged platform door at Sixth Avenue MRT station disrupts Downtown Line train services

As far as MRT service disruptions go, this one had a pretty legit justification for halting the trains on the Downtown Line this morning.

Somehow, a platform door at Sixth Avenue MRT station dislodged itself, prompting SBS Transit to cease operations between that station and King Albert Park’s during the morning rush hour today.

It was only around 7.48am that SBS Transit tweeted the disruption was caused by a “platform screen door fault”. That’s a bit of an understatement, though — the platform door looked pretty #rekt, according to on-site pictures.

Alas, the disruption just had to happen on the day of a Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) Science paper and several GCE N-Level exams in the morning. The Ministry of Education assured full duration to be given to students affected by the Downtown Line disruptions.

Services only resumed at about 8.25am, though it’s unclear if they managed to get the door fixed yet.
