Commuting troubles on SMRT’s train services are far from over — even after the massive delays that hit two lines and a train accident that left 25 people hospitalized this morning.
Right now, the public transport operator is dealing with even more hate when it announced that there’ll be fewer trains on the North-South Line this evening during rush hour. Commuters have been told to expect an additional 15 minutes to their train travel time, and that they’ll be able to ride free bridging buses from Bishan to Yishun station if they don’t want to wait.
But wait, there’s more! On the East-West Line, train services will be running at a slower pace, and commuters were told to expect another 10 minutes to their usual traveling time between Jurong East and Tuas Link MRT stations.
The fact that SMRT assured that it’ll be “doing all (it) can to resume normal services as quickly as possible” didn’t do anything to quell the mighty anger of scorned Singaporean commuters.

I can’t deal with this after a long day😭😭 pic.twitter.com/f8rxzLGGnW

Others reported that train services were delayed for way longer durations than SMRT’s alert.

SMRT then revised the delayed duration to… 40 minutes. Hot damn, it’s outdone itself today.
[NSL] UPDATE: Pls add 40 mins train travel time when commuting on the NSL. Free bridging bus services from #Bishan to #Yishun (one way) and free regular bus services btwn #Bishan and #Yishun (both directions) are still avail. Commuters are advised to take alternative train lines.

On this terrible day in SMRT’s history, perhaps Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan might be regretting that little comment he made about “hara-kiri” in the good old days.
