Din Tai Fung patron claims to find helping of insect egg sacs in his kai lan platter

By the hairy chin of Odin, what are these little white dots doing on this vegetable platter?

A patron of Jem’s Din Tai Fung restaurant made a pretty gag-inducing discovery when he found what he claims to be a cluster of  insect eggs hiding in the folds of his kai lan dish.

The couple were obviously horrified by the find and got their dish exchanged after the outlet’s manager apologised to them. Frankly, they look more like sesame seeds or some sort of garnish — but best not to poke around to find out if they were really insect egg sacs. The closest resemblance of the alleged eggs sacs we could find would probably be this little critter:

Speaking to Coconuts Singapore, Din Tai Fung assured that it was an isolated incident and that food hygiene remains of utmost importance to them.

“We have also been in touch with the customer and investigations are currently underway,” they mentioned.

In case the egg sacs gave you a serious case of the shudders, here’s a friendly little shiba inu to cleanse your senses.
