Nuclear winter isn’t arriving yet in Singapore (you can see how it might look like though) but at least December will bring a respite from our usual heat and humidity. The Northeast Monsoon season has set in, assured the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), and that means widespread thundery showers across the first few weeks of the month.
The weather is forecast to be downright wet, and heavy rain should be expected on seven to nine afternoons — extending into the evening on some days, even. Towards the end of the first fortnight, a monsoon surge is predicted, which could bring cloudy and windy conditions with periods of moderate to heavy rain over the island in the morning.
Also, cooler conditions thanks to the strengthening of northeasterly winds over the South China Sea. In the first half of December, there could be a couple of days where the daily minimum temperature could reach a low of between 22°C and 23°C. Which is amazing news, if you don’t mind getting caught in the rain once in a while.
