Data not compromised, says chairman of ticketing for NDP

Savvy technology blogger Lai Zit Seng outlined all the flaws in the National Day Parade (NDP) website in an in-depth analysis on his blog Zit Seng’s Superwall.

Out of the 10 reasons why the website sucks, the most ‘frightening’ one is that it allows users’ personal details to be easily hijacked, because it lacks simple encryption codes.

Meanwhile, in an article by TODAY, the Lieutenant-Colonel (LTC) Jason See, chairman in charge of ticketing, is quoted as saying, “We have reviewed our IT security infrastructure and would like to reassure Singaporeans that no personal information had been compromised. Nevertheless the level of security can be further enhanced and we will do so.”

You can still apply for tickets while the website is being upgraded, but you cannot be too careful when it comes to your NRIC number and telephone number. We suggest you do so via AXS stations, self-service automated machines (SAMs) and short message service (SMS).
