A gruesome traffic accident has left a motorcyclist with spinal injuries and a severed hand Saturday evening, adding to the spate of major mishaps on the road over the weekend.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), a CityCab taxi collided into a motorbike along Republic Boulevard at about 7:40 p.m.
Two men in their 30s and 40s were taken to Singapore General Hospital, SCDF said. A third person was also reportedly taken to the hospital, but that person’s gender and age has not been confirmed.
The accident occurred after the taxi’s tire was punctured and the driver lost control of his vehicle, The Straits Times reported. It then crossed the road divider before hitting the motorcyclist and his pillion rider.
Bystanders’ photos of the mangled vehicles and injured casualties were obtained by multiple social media groups, including the SMRT Taxi Share Facebook group. A word of warning though, those uncensored images are pretty grisly.
One picture shows the taxi with an indentation in the right front section of the car. Doors on its right side are also sunken in and crumpled.
In others, the motorcyclist can be seen lying on his back with his hand missing from his right arm, with an individual in a Singapore Armed Forces uniform attending to him. Another photo shows the detached hand (with its pinky finger severed) on the sidewalk.

A netizen was reported as saying that surgeons were able to reattach the motorcyclist’s hand.
