If you’ve been unimpressed by the slew of pop-ups that have been, well, popping up in Singapore these days, listen up.

Local creative agency Kinetic, Scotts Square shopping centre and Japanese 3D technology venture Mikanbako, have teamed up to launch the Uu 3D Studio, a pop-up “lab” and exhibition of 3D custom figurines, in Singapore.

Available through Oct. 6 from 10am — 10pm, the Uu 3D Studio is taking in reservations for anyone who wants to get custom figurines of themselves made.

David Gan holds his pose for 30 minutes so all his angles can be photographed

All you have to do is dress to express your individuality, turn up for your appointment and pose (still) through 30 minutes of photographing so the artists can capture all your data from different angles using a handheld scanner. If you want to include accessories such as sunglasses or a bag, you’ll have to wait another 10 minutes for those to be photographed separately. Accessories other than a pair of spectacles or sunglasses no longer than 50cm will incur an extra charge (see below for full prices).

We’ve seen these custom figurines — not only do they bear an incredible likeness to the original form, they’re also made of high performance composite powder and feel delightfully collectible — and think they’d be cool to have, but they don’t come cheap.

A small figurine (10-15cm long) will set you back SGD850, a medium (15.1-20cm) one SGD1,000 and a large (20.1-25cm) one SGD1,500. Donning fancy, intricate attire such as a wedding dress can make the custom figure cost up to SGD3,000 and if you want to be photographed in a complicated position (such as the “on bended knee” wedding proposal stance), be prepared to pay SGD1,350-2,400.

A $500 deposit is required to confirm your reservation, which can be made on the Uu 3D Studio website

Your Uu custom figurine will take three to four months to arrive at your doorstep.

For more information, visit the Uu 3D Studio website and Facebook page, or check out the exhibition at #01-06 Scotts Square, 6 Scotts Rd., 8458-4142.
