Consumers warned not to use potentially explosive models of Electrolux glass gas cooker hobs

Move over, Samsung Note 7 phones and Samsung washing machines — a new exploding appliance is in town. According to the authorities, four models of Electrolux’s glass gas cooker hobs have the potential to blow up during usage.

This morning, national standards and accreditation body SPRING Singapore issued an urgent advisory to consumers who’ve installed Electrolux glass gas cooker hob model numbers EGT9637CKP, EGT7637EGP, EGT7637CKP and EGT7627CKP — all of which were sold between 2014 and 2016. This comes after reports of glass shattering and small explosions during usage, with an individual getting scalded in one case.

All consumers are told to stop using the cooker hobs immediately because, you know, they’re connected to gas — and you don’t want a Michael Bay movie replicated in your kitchen.
