The heavy rainfall this morning caused mayhem in various parts of the city. Couple that with school staff knocking off at 10am to kickstart their Teachers’ Day celebrations early and you just know today probably recorded the worst work attendance in 2013. Here we’ve compiled every important fact written, photo or video taken and meme created in relation to the happenings of the morning of September 5, just in case you spent it in bed and need to play it up when you explain your absense in the office tomorrow.

Heavy rain was focused on the central and western parts of Singapore.
It rained from 8:15am to 9:30am.
The heaviest rainfall was at Kent Ridge, which lasted from 8:10-9:40am.
Flash floods were reported at the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), Commonwealth Avenue/Lane/Drive, junction of South Bridge Road and Maxwell Road, Junction of Cuscaden Road and Tomlinson Road, Alexandra Road and Lorong Kismis.
The most affected areas were the AYE and Commonwealth Avenue. Flood waters at the AYE reached a depth of half a metre, but subsided wihin 40 minutes. All four lanes of the AYE towards ECP were closed.
The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has plans to upgrade this section of the AYE, as well as the drainage system at Commonwealth Avenue.
