If you were one of the unfortunate souls stuck on the East-West Line this morning for longer than usual, you have our sympathies. It seems like there was some sort of train delay caused by a signalling fault, although no updates were posted on SMRT’s official pages — only those in the trains and stations got the announcement.
But of course, no official statement doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Commuters took to social media to report on several stations along the East-West Line that were overrun with crowds during the morning rush hour.
From the tweets, the disruption seems to have started around 8:30am, and delays added up to 30 minutes to commuters’ travel times. Stations from Pasir Ris to Raffles Place to Jurong East were said to have been affected.

Okay I believe EWL is slowly resuming its service. Use it at your own risk, there was a signalling fault. SMRT is the best 10/10. kys.

According to the Twitter updates made by commuters, services slowly resumed around 9:13am.
But seriously, to avoid being caught unaware by train delays in the future, bookmark these community pages that’ll update you way more often than SMRT (or SBS Transit).
