The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested a total of 86 drug offenders during an intensive island-wide operation that stretched from Nov. 11 to Nov. 15.
On one of the four days, CNB saw an officer rejecting the bribe of a 33-year-old Singaporean following his detention for suspected drug offence on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Singaporean male was together with another 31-year-old Malaysian when their car was stopped by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) at the Woodlands Checkpoint.
Officers found out that the Malaysian male possessed 60 Erimin-5 tablets at the time of arrest. More tablets were found in his Tajong Katong residence in a follow-up raid.
CNB director Ng Ser Song said he is heartened that CNB officers have shown professionalism and integrity during the course of their duties.
“We will continue with our relentless enforcement efforts against illicit drug activities and keep Singapore safe from drugs,” he said
Earlier this year, another CNB officer had rejected a 48-year-old drug abuse suspect’s bribe of about SGD13,300.
