CNB arrest four, seize $101,000 worth of drugs in two operations within a day

In two separate operations on Feb. 12, Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers arrested four suspected drug traffickers and seized drugs with a street value of more than $101,000.

Drugs seized in both operations include 500g of cannabis, 739g of heroin and 44g of methamphetamine, or ‘Ice’.

The first operation took place in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5, involving a 39-year-old Malaysian man and a 33-year-old Singaporean man.

CNB officers deployed in the vicinity spotted the Malaysian suspect arriving on a motorcycle at about 4:10pm to meet with his Singaporean accomplice. The officers moved in to arrest the two men when they parted ways.

500g of cannabis, worth about $16,500, was discovered in the fuel compartment of the Malaysian suspect’s motorcycle and cash amounting to $1,200 was found on the Singaporean suspect when officers conducted a search.

In the second operation, which happened in Paya Lebar Road, a 21-year-old Malaysian man and 33-year-old Singaporean man were arrested.

At about 7:10pm, officers deployed at the scene noticed the Singaporean suspect arriving and parking his motorcycle close to the Malaysian suspect’s motorcycle. After both men met and parted ways, two groups of officers came in to simultaneously arrest them.

739g of heroin and 44g of ‘Ice’, with a value of more than $84,000, was recovered from the Singaporean’s motorcycle, while $7,750 was found on the 21-year-old Malaysian.
