The weather last Friday morning was cloudy with a chance of couches — a motorist narrowly avoided a highly peculiar accident along Grange Road when a sofa appeared from above and slammed to the ground right in front of his car.
No really, this totally happened. Son of a bench!
Speaking to The Straits Times, the driver who caught the dashcam footage had been perplexed over the circumstances of the incident. According to him, a one-seater sofa had fallen on the right side of the road, and a cushion was seen flying through the air — in addition to the two-seater that dropped right in front of him.
Sofa So far, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has yet to make any comments on the incident, but The Straits Times understands that the sofas came from the 20th floor of the Cliveden at Grange condominium.
It remains unclear if the couches were deliberately thrown out from up high, or if the wind that morning was strong enough to blow them off a balcony. If it turns out to be the former, Singapore really does have a deep-seated problem with high-rise littering — two cases of bikes tossed from heights transpired just this month alone.
