Clean up your area by reporting litterbugs to the NEA using one of these 4 ways

Sick of all the trash piling up around your estate? Deal with the problem the Singapore way, by complaining to the National Environment Agency and identifying the litterbugs. The process is simple, and you can do it anonymously. Just pick one of these four ways, whichever works best for you. There’s the myENV mobile app, the NEA website, the NEA hotline, and good old-fashioned letter-writing.

If you never knew about these reporting methods before, there you go. Just don’t abuse them by going around and pointing a finger at every person in your neighbourhood for the slightest offensive behaviour, unless you wanna be known as the community tattletale.

The NEA’s advice on how to provide proper feedback includes offering details like the time, location and frequency of littering, as well as clear pictures or videos to show the culprit’s face. Sounds like a lot of work just for one report. Perhaps it’d be wise to save your efforts for only the most unrepentant, hardcore litterbugs.

For those who have difficulties throwing trash into bins, watch out for your community volunteers, who’ve recently been given greater enforcement powers — such as the ability to issue warnings  in dealing with environmental offences.
